Josef Suk, Josef Hála – Foerster: Skladby pro housle a klavír I, II

This is the first recording of the complete sonatas for violin and viola by the Czech composer J. B. Foerster. Furthermore, more than half of the sonatas presented here have been recorded for the first time ever. The sonatas are brilliantly performed by the grand master of the violin, the Czech virtuoso Josef Suk, who this year celebrates his 70th birthday, and his longtime partner Josef Hála. These lyrical works, which waited a long time to be rediscovered, are traditional in their nature, yet enriched with Foerster's own innovations in the areas of harmony and form.
