Even in 2025, it can be hard to find a gaming laptop on the smaller side. That’s why the 14-inch Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is so popular. And right now, the 2024 model of this powerful gaming laptop in a surprisingly compact package is a stunning $500 off at Best Buy.
The OLED screen is the definite highlight for me, offering a 2880×1800 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits of brightness to make games and movies absolutely pop. The 8-core Ryzen 9 8945HS CPU is one of the fastest laptop chips available in consumer designs. And while the discrete GeForce RTX 4060 card isn’t quite as high-end, that AMD-Nvidia combo should be able to handle even the most intense games with a little tweaking of the settings.
1TB of storage is nice, but 16GB of DDR5 RAM isn’t a ton for a gaming laptop at this price.
The Zephyrus G14 can double as a creator or student laptop, with easy access to two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, a full-sized HDMI port, and even a microSD card reader. If it has a weakness, it’s battery life — even with a 74 watt-hour tank, this thing can burn through it in 6 to 8 hours of normal use. And that’s without any serious gaming. Bring that power adapter along if you intend to have fun on the go.
The list price on this 2024 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is $1,600, but Best Buy’s sale brings it down to $1,100. High-end gaming laptops aren’t the fastest movers in the market, so this price might stick around. Still, if you’re hot on it, do grab it while you can.
