Over the past few years, we’ve seen countless changes to the Windows 11 Start menu, including a brand-new “categories” view as well as the “companions” feature. But for some reason, there’s always some detail left to change, some other thing to tweak.
The latest development on the Start menu front is that Microsoft is working on another major redesign for an upcoming Windows 11 update. The idea is that it will be possible to see and scroll through everything at once, with a Start menu layout that’s both longer and wider.
Hidden in today's Dev/Beta CUs: a major update to the Windows 11 Start menu! It has a new, larger layout with everything on one scrollable page, with the "All" list below recommendations – which can FINALLY be turned off! Pinned list is now limited to 2 rows, but can be expanded. pic.twitter.com/JkP3V2I5g6

Another improvement in the new Start menu is that it will finally be possible to switch off the recommendations, something that many users have been requesting.
The revamped Windows 11 Start menu was spotted by @phantomofearth on that one social media site, who posted a short video showing what the new Start menu design looks like and how it works. It’s currently only available in the Dev and Beta versions of Windows Insider.
