[USA][BIZ][10] LF web dev growth hacking co(s)- Let's solve the problem of making good friends.

Our goal would be to help people massively improve their quality of life by being able to easily find and make good friends with their specific interests on-the-fly anywhere in the world. This tool could potentially provide massive social benefit, not to mention an incredible life achievement. I have a particular soft spot for men in this regard- I believe men are having a real rough time of it these days (even pre-COVID). Technology is amazing, but maybe it's isolated us a bit. I know I have struggled personally, especially when moving to new places. I'm not entirely sure if women struggle with this as much. Maybe they would love it too! Hope so. I've passed this idea by a few entrepreneurial acquaintances for a hard critique and everyone's initial reaction is to point out that meetup exists. While that's certainly true, meetup sucks for finding friends in my experience- great for consistent group activities, but most people aren't necessarily looking for new friends in my experience (a friend proposed that maybe I'm unlikable- that's a true friend right there!). Plus, signing up, joining a group, the rules, admins, schedules, it's a real drag to use the site. Based on my limited discussions with others, everyone appears to think this is already a solved problem. Not sure about that! And, to be clear, finding drinking buddies may not be hard- go to a bar or party. But the chances of coming across someone that's interested in the same exact stuff you are on the day to day, is very slim. Everyone always has a rough time after college especially. That's because while it's easy to meet others that want friends, it's very, very hard to meet others that want friends AND share your particular interests. The growth hacker part is a bit of an unknown. Naturally we'll have to figure out the most cost effective ways of getting users, which will take a lot of experimenting. I have a lot of ideas myself, and it will be a team effort. There are so many guides and case studies and APIs to leverage... something has to work eventually, assuming I'm correct and this is a problem that needs solving. I've google doc'd a very rough draft of functionality to get an MVP up. The entire site is mostly just 2 pages, kind of similar to how twitter has the index and search. Of course I'm open to suggestions and very flexible with changes if someone has better ideas. I'm not sure how building this for web + ios + android works (I only know of react/react native) so haven't even attempted to guess a time estimate. Maybe just starting with web would be a good idea to simplify things. I don't really care about the underlying tech, just that the app looks great and is ridiculously easy to use/intuitive. Maybe that part can be outsourced or something. The engineers I know can't draw stick figures, but maybe that's just them.
