[US][TECH][5] Seeking a cofounder to generate revenue.

Hello, I am currently a solo-entrepreneur of S2 Maps, a company dedicated to building modern digital mapping tools. The company is built around a bold idea: building mapping tools from the ground up using a spherical projection. You can see an outdated website diving more into S2 Maps [redacted, PM for link] (currently being revamped to include registration + map services). A more modern demo has been setup [redacted, PM for link]. The Product Rundown S2 Maps diverges from an extremely outdated norm in cartography: flat projections. Unlike the current commonly used projections, the S2 projection represents all data on a three-dimensional sphere, making it possible to store and present a planets geographic database with no seems, singularities, or discontinuities. As an example, even though the Earth is not quite a sphere, it is possible to properly approximate and render the entire Earth’s surface with a maximum distortion of ~0.56% (less than a centimeter). Business Model I built a skeleton pitch deck you can see [redacted, PM for link]. The powerpoint file with comments an be viewed [redacted, PM for link]. Revenue streams will come directly through three key components: Contracted work - building products for private entities. SaaS - offer map data as a service. Currently and long term, this includes: streaming map tiles, clicking place data for more information, geocoding, weather api, routing & isochrones, POI data, etc. Government contracts - the GIS field in the US is actually pretty vast and there is a lot of room to add value. Where S2 Maps seems to fit most: Search Engines - especially privacy focused search engines. These search providers currently suffer from the lack of GIS rich data. This is where S2 Maps plans to step in, by data foraging on behalf of the the search providers, but also ensuring an enhanced UI experience for the end user. Climate Change research - uniform planet wide data structure means improved neural networks, better more accurate storage of the poles. Compare temperature, wind patters, pollution, ice growth and retreat trends closer to the equator with those closer to the poles. Real Estate - since the goal is to be data rich and have a powerful UI, offering GIS data to real estate companies could be lucrative. Also, I already have experience creating a UI for a previous startup where you could filter data based upon affordability, beds, baths, year built, boundary, isochrones, commute times, and other amenities. Onto of this, you could click on a city or town and get buy/sell trends of the area. I intend to eventually bring this back and offer it as service. NASA / Private Space Companies - mapping the moon and mars. Satellite and rocket monitoring tools. Etc. Current Business Goals Who I need: Looking for a cofounder from the US with experience with cold calls, building connections, and creating contracts. Ideally, someone who has experience building and cooperating with the US government, but this isn’t a requirement. Essentially, if you have an idea of how to sell this product and start generating revenue, please get in touch. Clarifying goals: There are three places I think are mostly likely to generate consistent cash flow: government contracts, oil & gas GIS, and specializing in offering map tiles as a service for search engines. Although I lack the talent for outreach, I believe DuckDuckGo and Brave Search are both perfect fits for this project that would guarantee cash flow to both improve & add tools. I have already created a DUNS and CAGE code, and have made several bids for government contracts with no success. Financial: I’m not interested in angel investment (at least not yet, unless you think there is a valid reason to do so). I’ve poured a little over 2 years into this project with the idea is to try and start creating a revenue without selling off the company at an early phase. If this means you can’t work full time initially, then I would completely understand. Future software goals Isochrones. During work on a separate startup in real estate that got me into this project, I created a real time isochrone solution that worked for cars up to an hour in under 2 seconds of computation. At some point I will be adding this solution into S2 Maps, and the cost per request would be as cheap as map tiles. Geocoding & Routing API. These are “solved” problems that are open sourced on GitHub. Copy pasting for the first iteration is all it would take. Weather / pollution / heat index. It’s interesting to me that you have to go to other providers to get this data. All this data is open to the public through government funding. Offering these services at a cheaper price would make this company all the more desirable. Online Service + Style Editor. Currently in the works, probably done mid next month. A website to register and be given an API to use the active services. Country specific boundary data & full information sets. China, India, and Russia are examples where their claimed land is different than the US or Europe. The long term goal is that every place and point of interest should be clickable with valuable information on each. Scrape the internet for POI (Point of Interest) and address data. Without going into too much detail, some open source projects are out there that already work on this. The POI market alone is huge, and could add a lot of value to the company. Scraping an internet data dump could create as many points as foursquare or yelp. Complete global hillshade / elevation api. NASA has a 2m+ global accuracy project in the works, so it’s just a matter of processing the data as it comes in. 3D support - I had a 3D demo in the past, but the camera didn’t offer a lot of control. Don’t believe this would add a lot of value initially, and will probably not see this worked on for a while. WebGPU - this one isn’t hard. Because the mapping engine already supports both WebGL1 and WebGL2, this portion of code is already very modular, it’s just a matter of adding it as another draw option. OpenGL and/or Unreal Engine 5 - offering the map as a tool on the computer rather than in the browser is the last piece of the puzzle. Should be added down the road. Feel free to DM if this project interests you and you think you could add value. All the best, Craig. submitted by /u/Craiggles- [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/cofounder/comments/pm0xy0/ustech5_seeking_a_cofounder_to_generate_revenue/
