I have several years of experience high up in a startup company running operations and all things business. I’m in a fantasy football league through ESPN with a bunch of old friends from college. The online site and mobile platform work well from a setting lineup and point tallying perspective, but not much else. I wanted to spice up the smack talk in our league, so I computed some basic statistics from years past to share with everyone; things like worst regular season record since we started, best single game point total, average place finish, times making the playoffs, etc. Everyone got a kick out of this, especially since I worded it in a fun way, like “Worst regular season record goes to Will back in 2016 who must have been too busy with his DJ company to set his lineup, as he went 1-11. Ouch.” This got me thinking that something like this must already be out there, but upon some online sleuthing, I couldn’t find anything comparable. And so began the idea: create an app that scrapes data from the fantasy sports sites, run stats on those data, and present them in a fun, competitive way. This can include the basic stats I was calculating, but can obviously go much further. Each league would pay a single amount each year to activate the app for all league members to use (perhaps $10) and would build upon each year of additional league data. This is where a technical cofounder would come in. To start this, I would want a cofounder who specializes in data scraping (and potentially another who specializes in app design), while I would focus on the business side of operations. Ideally, it would start with ESPN fantasy football and then expand to other fantasy sports and sites. Something like this could be built and scaled pretty quickly, without need for much external funding and would be an excellent buyout candidate for a company like ESPN (Disney), or DraftKings, or FanDuel in a short amount of time. I’d love to hear thoughts on the idea and if anyone is interested. submitted by /u/Aquaman_3000 [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/cofounder/comments/qwx091/usaflbiz2biz_cofounder_looking_for_technical/
