The smart home mavens at SwitchBot are showing several new products at CES 2025, including an innovative video doorbell that comes bundled with a dedicated 4.3-inch display. They’ve also taken the wraps off a versatile retrofit smart lock that will work on just about any type of entry lock.
It’s that display that really sets the SwitchBot Video Doorbell apart from the competition. Mount it to your kitchen wall or set it on your countertop, and you’ll never need to worry about reaching for your smart phone with wet or soiled hands because you’re in the middle of preparing a meal. Just take a glance at the monitor to see who’s at the door.
Should you want to speak to your visitor, you can take advantage of the system’s two-way audio. This is also a great solution for younger—or older—members of the family who don’t have a smartphone. The display can be equipped with up to 512GB of local storage, eliminating the need for a subscription to store video in the cloud.
The doorbell itself packs a 2K resolution camera with color night vision and a 165-degree field of view that lets you see the entire porch. It can operate with either wired or battery power, and there’s an optional solar panel to keep the battery topped off.
AI-driven motion detection uses Switchbot’s advanced sensing to keep you informed of activity around your door while reducing false alerts. Switchbot promises hassle-free installation that takes just three minutes, using either adhesive tape or screws. Renters will be glad to know that wall modifications won’t be necessary.
SwitchBot Lock Ultra: A retrofit for nearly any entry lock
SwitchBot
The SwitchBot Lock Ultra looks to take the company’s reputation for versatility to the next level. Designed to retrofit 99.9 per cent of existing locks—including deadbolt, mortise, and jimmy-proof locks—it’s a renter-friendly option that doesn’t require replacing your door hardware. If you have a non-standard lock, SwitchBot can even offer a 3D-printed custom solution.
SwitchBot’s FastUnlock System supports 16 unlocking methods, including fingerprint recognition, smartphone app control, NFC cards, and voice commands via Alexa, Google Home, or Apple’s Siri. The lock can store up to 100 fingerprints for quick, secure access. You’ll get Matter compatibility when you pair the lock with one of SwitchBot’s Matter-certified smart home hubs, rendering it compatible with Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Samsung SmartThings, and more.
The SwitchBot Lock Ultra and SwitchBot Video Doorbell will launch in early 2025.
