Intel is already sampling its next-generation core, Panther Lake, Intel’s new co-chief executive told reporters at CES 2025 on Monday morning. It will ship in the second half of 2025.
Intel is already sampling Panther Lake to customers, Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel’s head of Intel Products and its newly appointed co-chief executive, said during her CES keynote. Panther Lake will be fabricated on Intel 18A, the last of Intel’s “five process nodes in four years” strategy. She held up what she said was an early prototype Panther Lake chip for the CES audience.
Typically, Intel launches desktop processors first, and follows them up with mobile processor launches in the late fall.
Unfortunately, Holthaus didn’t tease any performance data for Panther Lake, as she has done with previous processors. Instead, Johnston said that “everything that you love about Lunar Lake, [Panther Lake] will take it to the next level.”
“I love what I see,” Holthaus said. “2025 will be a critical year for Intel. And, as I look across our business, I see a lot to look forward to.”
