The present book is an outcome of a training programme on Mathematical Modelling in GIS/GPS and Digital Cartography, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi from 1st February to 2nd March, 2005. The book consists of 34 chapters prepared by the experts for this training programme. These chapters cover various aspects of mathematical modelling of GIS/GPS and Digital Cartography. It is hoped that this book will be useful to the students, teachers, researchers, geographers and geoscientists using GIS/GPS and remote sensing techniques in their research.
