Attention is paid not only to names that are famous today but to numerous other artists who helped to create the fierce atmosphere of a hectic period, and almost forty magazines and anthologies of the period interlinking Central European art centres such as Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Krakow, Zagreb, Belgrade, K
ošice, Lvov, Warsaw, Vilnius and Novi Sad. The book contains more than 900 illustrations, artist and magazine profiles and a detailed chronology. Its breadth and depth make it a unique piece of scholarship on Central Europe.
