Disney - earnings discussion

DIS has made the decision to further up its streaming monetization efforts by adopting paid sharing starting in 2024, following NFLX's lead. These price increases come on top of those for Hulu and Disney+ Premium (ad-free) that will increase by 20% and 30%, respectively, starting in October 2023. While these initiatives may accelerate the company's top and bottom-line growth, it is still unclear whether they will be able to increase Disney+'s dwindli

China Makes its Stock Market More Lucrative for Investors with New Rules

China's securities regulator has taken unprecedented steps to stabilize its financial markets, yielding a robust market opening. Yet, while these measures provide short-term relief, they are unlikely to resolve enduring economic issues, notably the s

Is it time to invest in defense companies?

After the russian invasion into ukraine, NATO has steadily increased their support against the invasion. Some of the support even came at the expense of members own equipment. NATO even declared to strengthen their alliance in an article posted on their website. NATO leaders are going as far as saying that 2% of GDP should be the new minimum. This could be a bluff against Russia, but if this is for real, this is great

Is the UK stock market mispriced? A look at valuation compared to its peers, along with some data about the macro.

At a brief glance, the UK equity markets seems significantly mispriced. I'm not from UK/Europe, so if you are, your comments are especially welcome. Additionally, if you're in the camp of "Only buy US stocks" don't feel like you need to read the following heresy. At the bottom of this comment I give definitions of the various UK / European indices of relevance.

That being said, I remember him pushing the Tattooed Chef (TTCFQ) pretty hard a couple of years ago and he’s been pushing PayPal these past few months. So I know he has some pretty big losers as well, but he never seems to bring them up …

When he speaks, he obviously knows the basics, but sometimes he also makes weird c

How much can retail really influence a stock's momentum?

My question is simply can retail buyers unintentionally maintain downward momentum buying share at a perceived discount if a stock has sufficient share to borrow? If so, would a sharp drop off in buying slow or potentially reverse the momentum-driven portion of a price drop.

For background: Watching AMC over the last week, and a question or discussion of this nature is not going to get a realistic or coherent response in their subreddit, so I thought this

China Cuts Stock Trade Tax half, Tightens IPOs to Boost Market

China lowered the stamp duty on stock trades for the first time since 2008 and pledged to slow the pace of initial public offerings, among a slew of new measures to woo investors back to its flagging equities market.

The levy charged on stock trades will drop from 0.1% to 0.05% as of Aug. 28, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement Sunday, in a move to “invigorate capital markets and boost investor confidence.”

I have an empty brokerage account I'm in a position to start funding regularly. I'd like this account to help fund an early retirement until our retirement accounts kick in (55 to 59 hopefully). I have been stuck on how to al
