The MSI Creator 16 is a laptop. Allegedly. But looking at the spec sheet, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a souped-up gaming rig. It’s packing an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H CPU, a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 GPU, a 4K screen, and a whopping 64GB of RAM.
Normally, you’d pay $2,500 for this beast. Today, CDW is selling it for $1,698.09. That’s a whopping $800 off. A bargain for these specs.
The MSI Creator 16 AI Studio isn’t technically a gaming laptop. It’s designed for media production. But the only real difference is that the RTX 4080 GPU is limited to “just” 105 TDP, so it’ll still whoop up on (technical term) just about anything in its price range, even with that 4K mini-LED screen showing off all the polygons it can push. The 64GB of DDR5 RAM can even be upgraded to 96GB if you want, and ditto for the 1TB SSD (with the empty M.2 slot on the motherboard).
Other highlights include six speakers for rich audio, USB-C ports on BOTH SIDES, plus full-sized HDMI and a microSD card slot. This thing is hefty at about 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds), and even with its gigantic 99.9 watt-hour battery, I wouldn’t expect it to last long at max performance.
CDW is showing a regular discount of $729, bringing the price down to $1,770. But the frugal forum-goers at SlickDeals.net noticed that if you log in with a CDW account, the price drops down to $1,698.09, nearly a third off the retail price. I’ve checked and it’s still active as of this writing but already back-ordered, so I’d get an order in quickly if you want this crazy-powerful laptop.
