Overview about the company We’re building an online retailer and community for women to buy wigs. Women over 50 spend $22B annually on beauty products and nearly one in two women experience hair loss after the age of 40. These numbers are only expected to balloon as this is the fastest growing age segment in the country. Buying a wig is an urgent need for our customers but they struggle to find the best products for them and lose trust in retailers that fail to deliver quality customer service. We simplify the shopping experience by using chat tools and leverage user-generated content to create community and trust in the brand. We believe that wigs are a perfect product use case but we believe that the tech we build here will enable us expand to the myriad of other beauty needs of older consumers. ​ Our team Founder -> Stanford, UX designer (past projects w/ Snapchat & TikTok) Creative Director-> Photographer & front-end dev for Alexander Wang, Tom Ford, Bare Necessities Operations -> former apparel designer & producer Strategy consultant -> Stanford GSB, Chubbies, JP Morgan ​ Traction Bootstrapped and launched <6 months ago $13k in MRR, growing 40% MoM since January AOV: $270 Highest single wig sold: $1,200 Facebook group: 800 members Total customers: 75 ​ Why we’re looking to hire a CTO Our customers are highly engaged, tech-savvy women who crave tech that simplifies their life and makes them feel included. We aim to be at the forefront of interactive shopping experiences and believe wigs are a perfect product use case to start. Some of the tools we may want to build include virtual try-on, visual chatbots and quizzes. We also want to create prompts and minigames that results in user-generated content -- which drives engagement, builds community and strengthens the brand that customers can trust. Houzz is a perfect example of a company that leverages UGC to create a social e-commerce experience. I’m looking for a true cofounder for this role.
