Lenovo’s Chromebook Duet is one of the most popular ChromeOS devices around, thanks to its Surface-style tablet form factor, small size, and even smaller price. The latest model is currently on sale with a refurbished unit on eBay for just $259.99. That’s $130 off the original price — and it’s the upgraded model with 8GB of RAM, too.
This newest model Chromebook Duet is an 11-inch tablet powered by ChromeOS, and it includes a kickstand and a keyboard cover in the box. It’s a fantastic alternative to Microsoft’s Surface Go, delivering excellent value, surprisingly good typing, and a battery that’ll last you all day (or two or three) thanks to its Arm-based hardware. The upgraded 8GB of RAM in this version is an important extra, since even Chromebooks tend to chug if you overload them with browser tabs. That said, its poor Android app performance means it isn’t a great alternative to an iPad. You can read my full review of it here.
This refurbished deal on eBay makes this cheap tablet even cheaper, and it will get at least a decade of OS updates from Google. Despite being refurbished (“five star” cosmetic condition, according to the seller with a 97 percent positive rating), it comes with a two-year Allstate warranty and ships from the US. Not bad for a third off the retail price.
The Chromebook Duet is easy to find at retail, but we haven’t seen a discount this deep on the latest model (which you can distinguish with the Mediatek Komanio 838 processor and “Gen 9” label). There’s no telling how long the stock will last, as budget laptops that are even more deeply discounted tend to fly off the shelves.
