Microsoft has removed another obstacle that has prevented some Windows 11 users from updating to Windows 11 24H2. This update block affected PCs that had the game Asphalt 8: Airborne installed, and the block was instated because Windows 11 24H2 was causing the game to stop responding and had to be restarted frequently.
While the block was in place, PCs with Asphalt 8: Airborne weren’t even offered the 24H2 update. Microsoft has finally lifted the block, reports Neowin, who quotes the company:
“Resolution: This issue has been resolved. The safeguard hold (ID 52796746) that was previously in place for this issue has been lifted.
It may take up to 48 hours for the Windows 11, version 24H2 update to be offered in the Windows Update in Settings. Restarting your device might expedite the process.”
If you don’t want to wait the potential 48 hours for the update to become available on your computer, you can try shortening the wait time by restarting your PC.

This isn’t the only safeguard hold that Microsoft has issued for Windows 11 24H2. Back in December, it was blocked (and later lifted) on PCs with USB scanners and printers. And in February, the same happened for PCs running older versions of AutoCAD software. We expect more of these blocks to be lifted as Microsoft resolves the issues in Windows 11 24H2.
