A hybrid of Kickstarter (funding) and Change (petition). Would mostly only work for creative projects. How it would work: A fan of some artist/studio/company outlines the desired project (example: new song by his favorite band that isn't active, for example), posts requirements such as timeframe etc, and pledges a certain amount of his/her money, depending on how badly they want it. Other fans support the idea by pledging their various amounts. Their pledges are held for a certain period of time (say a month). The artist can respond within this period to show interest to encourage more funding, or they accept, or they offer tiers to get more out of it. Fans who had contributed more, will automatically be upgraded to those tiers or they will receive notifications saying that tiers are available and they can add a bit of money to take advantage. Later, this can be expanded to add categories for smaller things, as in Cameo. All it would take for this to take off would be one known name accepting the gig and delivering. This could even be a hidden sponsored marketing campaign (a project funded by our investors). With a good developer/web designer, we could make this happen. submitted by /u/goingcia [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/cofounder/comments/sz039r/usabiz15_contributorinitiated_funding_space_needs/
