We are two experienced start up builders seeking a React / Vue front-end developer for a cyber security project that we are mid build. We are all rounders when it comes to dev and commercial but we have a strong tendency towards our relevant fields.
It would be ideal if the front-end founder had experience with back end technologies too but they wouldn't be required to write any back end code. We are looking for the perfect piece to fit in the puzzle and having an understanding of back end, commercial and front-end would be ideal with a weighting towards the front-end.
Background
I come from a commercial background with cyber security vendors where I have scaled them from $0 to $50m in annual recurring revenues. With a strong distribution reach globally, we have excellent routes to market with our primary distributors already onboard for the product. I own another start up that is a channel management solution for managing distributors, resellers and MSPs too.
The other co-founder is another multi startup guy with exits behind him for his own companies in the cyber security space. He's a back-end developer that works in Python, C and C++.
We are both very experienced in the sector we are building a product for with my 15 years of experience on the commercial side and the other co-founders 10 years experience building software. Our technical developer can develop front-end too but we would like an extra person on the founding team to lead that part of it so we can concentrate on where are skills are strong.
The Product
We already have the back-end code being developed right now for a single pane of glass solution for MSPs to transform into offering services that MSSPs can offer from a single solution.
We are providing MSPs with the ability to produce reports for applications security, network security, cloud assessment, GDPR compliance and attack surface management.
Why now?
We've worked with channel partners for most of our careers and understand the industry perfectly. There are 150k+ MSPs globally that offer infrastructure management services for their clients. What they don't offer is cyber services and they typically outsource this to 3rd parties.
75% of these 150k MSPs want to start offering security services themselves but don't know where to start. Hence, we provide them with a simple, single pane of glass to create reports of their customers security posture so that services for remediation can be billed on top.
My NDA from the last security vendor that I worked with has just expired and thus gives me the freedom to build what I've always wanted to build.
Market Size
Given that we are working with MSPs primarily, it doesn't mean that we can't sell direct for what we are building. Taking into account the market size and TAMs for the categories that we fall into, the total TAM is in excess of $50 billion. The market we are entering initially is a new way of entering that market but something that is needed. We only need to look at analyst reports from Forrester and Gartner to understand that and speak to the MSPs themselves.
Route to market
We are very well connected with cyber distribution globally and have pre-contract agreements in place with our regular distributors that we have worked with for years. We will sell to the distributors who then sell to their database of MSPs. 1000's of them. It's not as simple as I'm making it sound there but we do have the reach into the market and the contacts in place ready to do it.
Previous successes
We've built several startups but we have never done things together until now. I've built commercial business tools and the other founder has built cyber start ups. We've known each other for years given that I've provided the other found with the tools to scale his cyber startups.
I've ran commercial teams at startups and major software vendors alike including marketing, sales, channel development and technical and the other co-founder has ran development and technical teams for 10 years. We're both complimentary skill sets to each other but we feel we could do with that expert on front-end to complete the skills to build something beautiful.
More People
We have one more person to find after the search for a front-end founder is fulfilled and that person will be an enterprise sales person based in the US. We are geographically dispersed as it is and don't mind the geography of the people we work with. I'm based in the UK and the other founder in Italy.
We would love to hear from anyone who thinks they would be a good fit for this project.
Thanks in advance.
