[USA][BIZ][10] after a technical (full stack dev) co-founder to help build out a litigation financing marketplace to provide justice for the most vulnerable.

In the US litigation is expensive.

It means that many cannot afford to pay legal fees to litigate as a plaintiff despite having a potential case winner.

It has historically been the playground of the rich. Even if you were able to scrape enough cash together to take on a defendant, many defendants can outspend an under-resourced plaintiff, placing an immense amount of cost pressure on the plaintiff that leads them to drop the case despite having a very winnable and meritorious case!

The justice system is broken and I am putting a group together to try and fix it.

We're creating a platform that makes it very simple for the plaintiff and their legal firm to get funding from investors to pay for the legal fees.

This is called litigation financing. Today, it is primarily the domain of hedge funds who look to try and 3x the money that they put in to cover legal fees. The plaintiff typically awards 25-35% of their recovery to the investor in exchange for the investor covering the fees. The legal firm is happy because they charge on an hourly basis and don't have to take an outsized risk vs their typically constrained balance sheet.

Problem is, that up until today, it is a bit of an old boys club. Hedge funds are investing in large cases that a facilitated by old-school brokers who charge large fees to connect the two parties. It is insanely difficult for legal firms to access funding for their cash-strapped plaintiffs. US legal firms are desperate to find a way to lower the financing cost and streamline an incredibly clunky process.

Investors are also looking for improved data and analytics to improve their investment decisions.

Over the last few months, I have been working on an MVP for a litigation funding marketplace. Think MicroAcquire but for litigation financing. Legal firms can list a case in minutes and investors can conduct their due diligence on the legal firm and case on the platform via encrypted chat and video calls. The investor then bids on the case against other investors as a % of the plaintiff's recovery.

I am working to put a team of cofounders together to take this thing to the next level and get it to market. Initially, a full stack dev makes sense to help finalize the MVP, and then I want to add talented US-based lawyers with good reach into the industry.

My background is leading an AI-enabled hedge fund as Chief Investment Officer. My main focus is in another business at the moment and hence why I am reaching out to get some more help on a project that I desperately want to come to life. I will be helping with product (data analytics/ML), VC funding (some great interest from my VC network thus far), and building a NYC-based legal/funder network.

I really do believe this is a huge opportunity to make an incredible societal impact and make some great cash along the way. The industry is desperate for a solution and we're putting the pieces together for it to be us!

If it sounds interesting, please reach out, and let's chat!
