Insider selling

Why are people so obsessed with insider selling on this sub?

I've posted several ideas here and almost every time I get comments back about insider selling.

Most sales are not nefarious. Executives are frequently paid in stock, and must sell that stock if they want to buy things. That's normal.

I do consider excessive selling as a tell, but it comes up a lot. Insider buying is a good sign, in general though. There's many reason

Instacart IPO announced-what do you think?

Instacart filed for its IPO yesterday (8/25), after dragging its feet since the pandemic when whispers of its debut began. What are your thoughts? I know IPOs have been hairy lately; does anyone have any plans of diving in for the long run?

Personally, I’m intrigued based on the limited on-the-ground information I have. They’re the go-to for grocery delivery I’ve noticed. At least in my circle-lots of younger folks, especially higher income young

In theory isn't the Stock Market undervalued when adjusted for inflation?

S&P 500 3 Year Return is at 40.29%

Inflation rate combined over the last 3 years 19.5%

Actual 3 year S&P return adjusted for inflation = ~ 6.6% yearly

S&P average yearly return over last 20 years = 9.7%

Imagine thinking you did well gaining in the past 3 years without considering inflation creaming your buying power

Is anyone else doing the most simple technical trades? This seems almost a no brainer...

Here's what I've learned over many decades of trading. It's so simple.

On any graph where horizontal axis is time and vertical is price, any particular stock or ETF or index whatever never moves in a straight line. This everyone knows, yes?

Instead, movements peak and troughs according to news, events, speculation, etc.

But the peaks and troughs still do coincide. And so a line connecting peaks sometimes is parallel to a line con

Annual and historical market return calculator

Where can I find a calculator which computes annual and historical market returns.

I bought 20 Apple shares in 2020 and 5 in 2021 and 5 in 2022. I want to know what my returns on individual purchases. Stock did pay dividends.

Thanks

Nvidia $25B buyback

Is this really a good use of resources? I don't know when the company last sold shares, but I doubt it was at a price higher than it is now. I thought buybacks were done when an issuer thought their stock was undervalued and could purchase it for less than originally sold.

They could instead pay off all their outstanding notes, but considering the low rates on them, they could earn a risk free net return elsewhere.

Doubling their dividend could

When Silence Speaks: The Market Implications of What Powell Didn't Promise

Jerome Powell's address today has been seen by many as being market-neutral, with some commentators even calling it slightly dovish, given the absence of a clear commitment to future rate hikes. However, I interpret a potential market risk in Powell's consistent aim to maintain elevated borrowing costs until inflation returns to the Fed's 2% benchmark.

My concern is that the economy, along with the markets, might not endure these high interest

I'm in trouble I think

So I went with an advisor last September at Morgan Stanley. He re did my portfolio and then started talking to me about selling covered calls on my position of ETN. I explained to him that that options sound good as long as we have the possibility of closing out the option so to negat the risk of having the contracts exercised. He confirmed we could do that and said this was basically free money.

We made anywhere from 1800 to 2000 on each contract. All w
