Tax planning when selling one stock to buy another stock?

When you sell a stock to buy another stock, do you prefer to set the estimated amount of the capital gains taxes aside in a money market or do you think it better to invest the full amount in the new stock and sell off some of it to cover the tax bill when it comes due?

Seems like it is a decision between the safety of knowing you have the liquidity (if things go down) versus having your money work for you more during the year (if things go up).

Retirement Planning's-3 stocks could help power your investment portfolio and make you wealthier by retirement.

Saving for retirement is crucial, but relying solely on a 401(k) might not be enough due to high inflation. Consider investing in growth stocks, especially in the tech sector, which can beat inflation and give you better returns. Discovery Financial Services (DFS). Any good ?

I’m think this is not a good investment as there is no chatter at all on the 52 week low. They are involved in a class action lawsuits by investors and credit card companies are losing money from nonpayment. I think some have personal issues with Discover.

Any thoughts long term?

Tax implications of selling one etf for a dividend etf?

This is assuming it’s a taxable brokerage account and you’re 5 years from retirement.

Question Regarding Blackberry IPO for IoT Division

Hey Everyone!

I just had a question about Blackberry and its plans to carve out its IoT business. Does anyone know how this will affect the shareholders?

For example, if you owned 100 shares in Blackberry before the split, what happens to your shares after the split? Would you then own shares in both the companies, or still have the 100 in just one company? I’ve tried researching on what will happen, but unfortunately haven’t been able to find any
