I am a Canadian citizen who works for a US employer. I got awarded few RSUs and those are about to vest. I have option to keep them and get converted to stocks or just sell them on vesting and get the money in which case I will be liable for tax. Sorry if this is a basic question but if I decide to withdraw, how much tax would be applicable on it? I am trying to understand how much hit I would take if I decide to sell it vs later.
I’m wondering if buying energy ETF’s is a good hedge during a recession or period of high inflation. Seems like it’s not affected by higher for longer interest rates. When most markets rally do energy stocks rally too?
Wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on holding some energy ETF’s for the mid/long term. Cheers!
More than double the expected number of jobs were added. This should have been a much bigger deal than it was. Instead the market was down a bit premarket and after opening, only to bounce back into the green before noon.
What's going on? Do we think the new jobs will increase supply to offset the demand they create, leaving inflation to continue its downward trend and the Fed not compelled to hike rates again?
Are we really starting to buy in
Hi everyone!
I decided to post here because I'm anxious, scared, and excited at the same time because I finally saved up some money and invested it for the first time. I quit drinking beer and buying useless crap, and saved up (don't laugh) $1,000 dollars and had it sitting there in a credit union with pennies for interest and I didn't like that.
I'm really kicking myself for not doing this when I was younger. I remember when I was

I'm looking at balance sheets & income statements and trying to deviate between some factors.
First off, how is cash growth (income statement) calculated? Is it using cash flow, free cash flow, cash & equivalents? etc.
Secondly, what's better for determining the health of a company? Free cash flow or cash growth?
I can't really seem to find anything more detailed on cash growth. I've looked at Investopedia, my broker&
Looking through some of the newer charging stocks which were trending and popular 2 years ago such as CHPT, EVGO, etc. What one finds is they are all at all time lows and priced that Tesla would be the only main player with some kind of hybrid model where other autos also leverage teslas network. Did the market get this right or looking back 5 years from now it is worth speculating today and the stocks would mostly recover longer term?? Anyone positioned there u
So, I understand how stocks go up and down, someone buys and someone sells, the value of the company has no impact other than what people are willing to pay to be part owners.
What I don’t understand is how ETFs get their value. Is it the same thing, just buying and selling at a certain price or do the values of the companies within them matter. If you had an ETF that was 25% Apple, Tesla, MSFT, and Google, and Apple went up, would the ETF price automatic
The "pending trades" make no sense. At one point some calls I got for google could yield me 450 virtual dollars. "Sick" I thought. I ended up selling them and waited 20 minutes before I got a confirmation, at which point my calls were -20 virtual dollars. Same with shorts. I tried cashing out with my virtual Conagra shorts and I'm waiting ages for the trade to be confirmed, at which the shorts are going to be worth quite a bit less. Anoth
